Possible 2010 Air Show Appearance List

XH558 will be limited to around 30-40 hours flight time this year to help reduce fatigue and preserve the airframe. As a result, this year will see a reduced number of air show appearances compared to the marathon of 2009. Some two-day fly-in shows may be limited to just one appearance, with the first day being given preference to allow the second day to act as a reserve in case of technical or weather diffculties.

XH558 currently operates under Visual Flight Rules (VFR), meaning that it cannot fly through cloud to higher altitudes where there is less turbulance. As a result, it must fly in low and often turbulent air, which adds to airframe fatigue. The VTST have applied for a permit to fly higher, and, if granted, this should allow for a few extra hours of flight time for the season.
