Your Vulcan (still) Needs YOU!

Avro Vulcan XH558 returned to the skies on 18th October 2007 after many years of fundraising and skillful restoration by a dedicated team at based at Bruntingthorpe, Leicestershire. The project almost folded several times due to lack of funds, but the great British public came to the rescue on each occasion. The test flight program resumed in April 2008, and, after a few setbacks, including a false alarm of fire during one flight, the all important permit to fly was granted on the 3rd of July, just in time for her first official display at the Waddington Air Show on the 5th. The Vulcan Bomber was now back! Aviation software firm Aerobytes provided much needed sponsorship to enable XH558 to display through the summer, but a series of technical setbacks, and the great British weather, resulted in the cancellation of a number of displays and airshows, notably the Royal International Air Tattoo at RAF Fairford. The elusive major sponsor has yet to materialise, in no small part due to the economic climate, and the project continues to live on a knife edge. *** 2010 Pledge/Donation Appeal Underway *** Urgent!
